"Mystic Towers, and all related projects from Adam Kalmbach represent an important time for dungeon synth, one where we didn't really know what was going on and amazing records would come out of nowhere - it wouldn't be until much later when we were able to connect the pieces. Mystic Towers, Erdstall and Abandoned Places were all great projects but it would take time to emerge that these were not only created by the same individual, but all dedicated to the halcyon days of computer gaming. Dungeon synth has changed in the many years of its revival and there is nothing we can do to change its course. Mystic Towers and the related works from Kalmbach will always retain the sense of wonder and discovery that seem to be inextricably tied to the early 2010s." - KAP, 2025
